trip to New York and Chicago
You will notice that I tend not to post about being away from home until I come back. At least you may have done.
The week before last I had been been over to the USA, first in New York and then Chicago. In each case accompanied by the project manager from The Customer.
Arrival into Newark Liberty International airport - fairly uneventful flight.
For the New York bit we stayed and were working in Wayne, which is about thirty miles out of the city itself. We did have a chance on Monday to go down to Manhattan island, for a wander around, seeing grand central station and central park, as well as simple soaking up the atmosphere - the little things, like the way the side walk is constructed, the smells and things you never really see.
If you want pretty pictures then look elsewhere.
Claire remembered that she needed me to buy something lovely, so I found myself in Tiffany and Co, which was quite lovely. (although not quite as expensive as I had expected)
Wayne itself is pretty pointless although the Residence Inn (Wayne) was nice - good showers.... with a verrrrrrry long corridor:

We did, on our first night, find ourselves in the Cheesecake Factory in Wayne. I mention this only because I didn't eat any cheesecake.

The flight over to Chicago was uneventful, the hotel (W Hotel - Chicago Lakeshore) was quite nice, although rather over-priced. A nice Mohito (or three) available from the hotel bar.
Food in Chicago consisted of good steak from the David Burke Primehouse - which came highly recommended and didn't disappoint.
The Virgin flight back to the UK was good - the time went quick enough, but the lay-flat beds really didn't do the trick for me.
